Our Process

From sustainably sourced forests to your home, every step honors the craft and the earth

Sustainability at Our Core

Creating beautiful woodware isn't just about craftsmanship—it's about responsibility. Every piece we make carries a commitment to the forests, the artisans, and the future we're building together.

Certified Forests

All our wood comes from FSC-certified forests or reclaimed sources, ensuring responsible forestry practices that protect biodiversity and support forest regeneration.

Artisan Partnerships

We work directly with skilled craftspeople and local cooperatives, ensuring fair wages and preserving traditional woodworking techniques passed down through generations.

Zero Waste

Wood scraps become smaller pieces, sawdust is donated for animal bedding, and every part of the tree is honored and used. Nothing goes to waste in our workshop.

Natural Finishes

We use only food-safe, natural oils and waxes to finish our pieces. No harsh chemicals or synthetic sealants—just pure, simple protection that enhances the wood.

The Journey from Forest to Home

1

Ethical Sourcing

We select wood from certified forests in Pennsylvania, Vermont, and Michigan. Our suppliers maintain decades-long relationships with foresters who practice selective harvesting and replanting.

2

Artisan Crafting

In our Portland workshop, skilled artisans shape each piece by hand. They read the grain, respect the wood's natural character, and bring decades of experience to every cut and curve.

3

Natural Finishing

Each piece is sanded smooth, then finished with food-safe mineral oil or beeswax blend. We apply multiple coats by hand, allowing the wood to breathe while protecting its beauty.

4

Thoughtful Packaging

We pack your piece in recycled kraft boxes with minimal, biodegradable materials. Each order includes a care card and a sample of wood oil to help you maintain your piece for generations.

Meet Our Artisans

Behind every piece is a craftsperson who has dedicated their life to understanding wood. Their hands shape not just objects, but connections between nature and home.
